Flutter is going to be deprecated

People are scared that Flutter is going to be deprecated after the mass layoffs from Google.

My understanding is that Google only laid off Python engineers.

If anything, people should be questioning if Python is going to be deprecated. Which obviously that's not possible.

But people worry about Flutter because Google has a reputation for just throwing out whole projects after a while.

Maybe Google has "shiny object syndrome" 🤔

If people weren't so damn tied to their frameworks and tools, this wouldn't even that big of a problem for any established engineer.

Aspiring devs, yea maybe. I get that you're just starting to learn this new framework and get hit with the idea that any and all progress you may have made is going to be useless. But that really isn't the case regardless of what happens to Flutter.

The concepts that you may have learned in Flutter will generally apply to other frameworks. Probably mostly to React Native, but some things will still be relevant in SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose.

If you're scared, just shut up and switch already. You're wasting time worrying and you should be building and learning things.

Maybe this will teach Flutter developers that you shouldn't be tying your identity to the tools you use.

Maybe this will teach Flutter developers that you should be focusing on solving problems, not just learning frameworks for the hell of it.

This is a problem with all developers too.

I'm looking at you SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, and React Native devs.

And dear God, please let this idea make its way to the web, where there are die hard fans of a runtime that came out two days ago.

Tools can be outdated.
