10 Roadblocks For Breaking Into Web3

Breaking into the Web3 space, is a lot harder than people say.

I've heard from plenty of Web3 influencers that suggest that there is a high demand for developers.

And yet, even experienced devs are struggling to make the leap.

Here are a couple of roadblocks that I've personally experienced:

  1. New technologies are just as prominent as established technologies.
  1. Online resources become outdated extremely fast.
  1. Web2 experience is usually undervalued.
  1. Native mobile development is practically non-existent in the space.
  1. The available tooling is largely incomplete, especially if you aren't a JavaScript expert.
  1. Learning the lingo is like drinking from a firehose.
  1. There are scams even at the job application level.
  1. Previous experience in Web3 AND expertise in the category are required.
  1. Finding a "Getting Started" guide in the docs is rare.
  1. AI interviews are being used as a filtering method.

Most of these problems can be applied to breaking into the tech industry in general.

The difference is the current consensus in the Web2 community: getting a job right now is hard for everyone.

I'd say that making a break into Web3 is just as hard as anywhere else in tech.

Only make the switch if you're serious about staying in Web3.
